Madeira Press Museum
The Madeira Press Museum aims to preserve and promote the heritage of the graphics heritage and printing industry of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
This museum, housed in the building of Lobos Municipal Library, has a substantial typographic, lithographic and film heritage.
Those who visit this museum will see some original equipment and machines of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Among the artefacts displayed is a machine for manual printing, manufactured by Golding & Co., Boston, in 1886 and an "Intertype", made in England in 1911, by Harris-Intertype, Ltd., which is adorned with Nativity typography. Various printing presses that belonged to the former Regional press are still on display in the Museum.
