Monte Palace Museum
Target of an extensive renovation, the house of the Monte Palace Manor is currently intended for private use.
Property of the José Berardo Foundation is in this manor where is located the Monte Palace Tropical Garden, an ornate space with valuable collections and exotic plants from around the world.
In a building built from scratch, are installed other collections of the Commander José Berardo, as is the case of the African Contemporary Sculpture that is from Zimbabwe region and the Secrets of Mother Nature Exhibition, with its collection of minerals from Brazil, Portugal, South Africa, Zambia, Peru, Argentina and North America. In fact, the Monte Palace Museum is an exhibition space with three galleries.
The exhibition entitled "African Passion" shows part of a collection of contemporary sculpture from Zimbabwe comprised between 1966 and 1969. Are exposed more than 1000 sculptures. In the other hand the show 'Mother Nature's Secrets' displays a collection of minerals derived mostly from Brazil, Portugal, South Africa, Zambia, Peru, Argentina and North America. There are about 700 samples patents in this exhibition. There is still to highlight a gallery exhibition of gems, with a special focus on diamonds.
