Solar do Ribeirinho Museum
Built in the late seventeenth century, the Solar do Ribeirinho, also known as the Solar de São Sebastão or Solar do Rosário, was privately owned until the twentieth century. It was subsequently acquired by the Machico Municipal Council.
This is an infrastructure with historical, archaeological and architectural significance, which has been rated since 1998 as a Property with great Local Value (currently a Property of Municipal Interest).
Here, visitors have interactive access to historical data, facts and to the most significant figures in the history of the city of Machico. Several historical objects are displayed on-site. Among these objects is the cross of Machin, a painting of the 1st Captain-Major of Machico (Tristão Vaz Teixeira), as well as a seventeenth century processional cross of great artistic interest and an extremely rare fifteenth century seal, with an ivory handle and silver die.
