Ponta do Pargo
Located in the western tip of Madeira, Ponta do Pargo owes its name to a fish – the sea bream. A distinct feature of this quiet town is its unusual flatness among an otherwise rugged island. The town is also known for its Apple Festival.
Some of the main economic activities of this area are fishing, agriculture, and cattle ranching. With regards to local architectural heritage, one must mention the lighthouse of Ponta do Pargo, where you can enjoy a magnificent view over the Atlantic Ocean, the Parish Church of S. Pedro and the chapels of Nossa Senhora do Amparo and Boa Morte.
