Quinta Grande
Quinta Grande is located near the south coast of Madeira and has an area of 4.19 km².
The name of the parish is due to an extensive property owned by the Jesuits in that place. There, one can visit the parish church of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, the Vera Cruz Chapel, and the Nossa Senhora de Fátima Chapel.
It is also the location of the highest lookout point in Europe and the second-highest in the world, Cabo Girão. Other lookout points include Quita do Pomar and Fajã dos Padres, accessible via a lift, and featuring a small beach, a restaurant, and rental accommodation.
To get to Quinta Grande from Funchal, travel up the highway towards Funchal and Ribeira Brava, following the signposts and exit at 'Quinta Grande'.
