Imaculado Coração de Maria
The Imaculado Coração de Maria is one of the 10 parishes that comprise the municipality of Funchal, the capital of Madeira. From this parish, is it possible to reach many tourist spots, such as Monte, Terreiro da Luta, Poiso and Pico do Areeiro, just by taking the road of Til.
A modern church can be found where Road of Til crosses the Rua da Levada. Known as The Church of the Imaculado Coração de Maria, it is an example of the work of Raul Chorão Ramalho, a prominent contemporary architect and is as well worth a visit. Elevated into a civil parish at November 26, of 1954, the Imaculado Coração de Maria is mainly characterized for its great deal of houses and for its small businesses.
Nerby the church, at the beginning of the road Marmeleiros, is a place that should be visited – the garden Poço da Câmara, where is the well of drinking wather, fueling the population downtown from Funchal.
