Botanical Gardens - Madeira Island
The Botanical Garden is one of the busiest tourist attractions in Madeira. It is located just 3 km from the capital, Funchal, a former property of the Reid family: the Bom Sucesso manor.
This sanctuary covers an area of 35 thousand square meters at an altitude ranging between 200 and 350 meters, guaranteeing optimal conditions for certain plants. The colours and designs are executed with over 2,500 exotic plants from every continent, which make visiting this garden a very special experience. The purpose of the Botanical Garden is to preserve species, and it also works a centre for scientific research, as it preserves plants which are extinct or almost extinct in their country of origin.
This space has areas which are used for cultivating and showing orchids, a lookout point, and an amphitheatre. Enjoy a unique view of the amphitheatre of Funchal.
