Atlantic Roots Festival

Premiered in 1994, the Atlantic Roots Festival is considered the oldest festival of world music in Portugal. This is one of the most successful events in Madeira which combines Madeira’s traditional music and world music, attracting a large and diverse of audience to the capital.

The Atlantic Roots Festival is sponsored by the Regional Directory of Cultural Affairs of Madeira’s Regional Government and integrates the Cultural Festivals programme. This event happens every year on the penultimate weekend of July and includes, in addition to musical performances, conferences, lectures and even the launch of CDs.
