Madeira Monuments

The archipelago of Madeira has many different attractions. Its rich history, rich heritage, and much of its inheritance comes from a time when the region was part of the main commercial routes in Europe.

In Madeira it is possible to see different clear architectural styles from the Manueline to the Gothic, such as the Funchal Cathedral, as well as contemporary architecture.

In the centre of the capital, the Baltazar Dias Municipal Theatre, built in 1884, is a centenary building of high architectural value.

Near the street Dr. Fernão de Ornelas, the busiest in Madeira's capital, lies the Farmers Market, built in 1940.

The region's heritage includes a variety of monuments ranging from historical, cultural, and natural museums, to present-day military architecture throughout the island. The statues which are part of the regional collection are also of great interest.
