Madeira Gardens & Parks
The exuberance of green spaces is one of Madeira’s greatest features.
The archipelago has an impressive variety of gardens and parks.
There are freely accessible gardens and public parks, such as the Municipal Garden, Santa Catarina Park and Santa Luzia Garden; the Region also has beautiful green areas with paid access, such as the Botanical Gardens and the Monte Palace Garden, both of which are located in Funchal.
At the start of the 21st Century, on the occasion of the "Florid Towns and Villages, 2000," contest, Funchal was presented with the gold award, which is on display at one of the sites within the Municipal Garden.
Outside the capital, green areas are rife, providing spaces for socializing and leisure activities as well as being places of great botanical interest.
