Monte Palace Tropical Garden - Madeira Island
To say that the ‘Monte Palace Tropical Garden’, property of the José Berardo Foundation, is magical and charming, is no more than doing it justice. In this beautiful space you can observe endemic exotic plants from various countries and intricate ornamentation, including a panel of 166 terracotta glazed tiles under the title 'The Adventures of the Portuguese in Japan'.
At the entrance of the Oriental Garden, the areas to the north, enjoy two dogs of Fo, in marble, mythical beasts of the East, and enjoy the oriental style with various pagodas, Buddhist sculptures, and beautiful Koi ponds with fish decoration. Indulge in the beauty of plants: a revolute cyca, tree ferns, azaleas and camellias, among others.
The vegetation of this garden already exceeds one hundred thousand species and is growing steadily. The enclosure also has an area devoted to the local flora, where one can find most of the varieties from Laurissilva and Macaronésia, as well as other endangered species.
