Paul do Mar
Paul do Mar is a traditional fishing village. It's actually one of the most important fishing centers on the island of Madeira, just like Jardim do Mar is the delight of surfers for being a great spot for surfing and bodyboarding.
Thanks to a sunny and warm weather, this is the ideal place to enjoy a beautiful day at the beach. Moreover, the variety of fish available makes this a favorite destination for a nice meal.
Among the other economic activities of Paul do Mar are agriculture (particularly the cultivation of bananas), the baking industry, retail and services, and tourism with restaurant and lodging options. In this village, you can visit the Parish Church of Santo Amaro, which was built around a chapel that was originally founded by João Antunes de Couto Cardoso, one of the first settlers.
